Position Summary

Attendant - Pumps petrol, swipes payment cards, provides member service, cleans up spills, and responds to potential emergencies.

Supervisor - Oversees employees and coordinates activities at the Petrol Station. Pumps petrol, swipes payment cards, provides member service, cleans up spills, and responds to potential emergencies.

Job Duties/Essential Functions

Attendant:

  • Greets member, swipes membership and payment cards, removes petrol cap, and pumps petrol
  • Sets nozzle to auto-fill or hand pumps
  • Puts petrol cap back, returns nozzle to pump, gives member receipt, and thanks member
  • Directs traffic as needed
  • Cleans petrol spills using neutralising agent and/or absorbing cloth, disposes of material properly
  • Changes filters, performs/arranges for routine equipment maintenance
  • Cleans station, including dispensers, data shed, islands, pavement, rubbish
  • Loads pump receipt tape and ribbons
  • Performs daily inspections of all equipment
  • Performs routine maintenance changing filters and nozzles, changes open and closed signs daily
  • Researches area competitive pricing using private vehicle; keys report into computer daily
  • Monitors fuel deliveries, signs delivery receipts
  • Enforces national fire codes and Costco safety policies, e.g. no smoking, ignition turned off, filling storage containers
  • Responds to alarms appropriately
  • Uses fire extinguisher if necessary

Supervisor:

  • Performs all of the above listed attendant duties
  • Monitors cleanliness of station, including dispensers, data shed, islands, pavement, rubbish
  • Leads, schedules, provides training, encouragement, advice, and feedback to Petrol Station staff

Ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery

  • Computer, printer, phone, calculator, 2-way radio

Qualifications (Costco-specific or industry specific skills that candidates should possess)

Education/Training:

  • High School Certificate or higher

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Current unrestricted Drivers Licence
  • Fire Safety Certification (state specific)

Experience/Skills:

  • Petrol Station Attendant experience
  • Supervisory, leadership or comparable experience
  • Strong customer service, communication, interpersonal and organisation skills
  • Problem solving and critical thinking
  • Basic math skills

Other specific requirements

  • Full COVID-19 vaccination or medical contraindications certificate
  • If successful, you will be required to undertake role & department specific training within specified timeframes
